The Anssi
Tikanmäki Orchestra (ATO) concentrates
on instrumental music by Anssi Tikanmäki. The material on the
"Finnish Landscapes" disc, for example, is part of its repertoire.

The ATO plays Tikanmäki´s new
material as well as melodies in the Finnish style familiar from
"Finnish Landscapes" updated for a small, dynamic line-up and in fresh
arrangements, along with themes and numbers from Kaurismäki
films, including Tikanmäki's legendary arrangement of
Sibelius's "Finlandia".
The Anssi Tikanmäki Orchestra dates from
2002, when it appeared at the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival, at the
Tampere Hall and the Sibelius Hall in Lahti. Since then there have been
gigs in clubs or concerts in different kinds of festivals.
ATO has performed Tikanmäki´s music also with
different symphony orchestras in Finland, i.e. Tampere Filharmonia,
Pori and Joensuu symphony orchestras.
In addition to these ATO has been doing small concerts in schools
around Finland.
In 2012 the album "Anthems" was released by Tikanmäki Attack
and Roope Latvala, a pioneet heavymetal guitarist, who plays in the
famous Finnish heavymetal group called Children of Bodom.
Tikanmäki Attack (Anssi, Eljas and Eemil Tikanmäki
with Juuso Nordlund) together with Roope Latvala update eight wellknown
national anthems into 21st century with their new, heavymetal
arrangements.
In August 2012 the legendary singer-songwriter Donovan was invited to
perform in Turku, Finland. In that concert on stage there also was ATO
accompanying and playing with Donovan those famous songs of his. In
2013 they are working together again.
The ATO offers its listeners an alternative: a
chance to experience the music without voices and words.
